In 1981, I moved from several years working at a premier resort by day and singing in bars by night on West Maui to Long Beach, California where it was my hope to pursue a music recording career. I recorded a number of tracks at Trianon Recording studio in Long Beach California with owner, musician and engineer, John Vestman. The commercial side of the business was slow, but we did get funding for a number of recordings and attracted several top flight studio players in Hollywood and surrounding areas to participate.
More of this bio story will appear later in the web site. For the intro purposes, suffice it to say that my family and I left California in 1988, to go back to Texas. It would be over 30 years before I made the commitment to retrieve the masters from John Vestman who had brought them with him during all his engineering and later mastering moves around the music business. We worked out a deal in 2020 to have all the Ampex Reels shipped to Corpus Christi, Texas. Then I shipped them to a recording facility in Nashville, TN called Welcome to 1979 who performed the sensitive procedure on older tapes that have not been played in a long time. They did it brilliantly and sent the transferred copies back to me.
